Overview:

“Girl’s Guide To Getting Away: The Basics” is a digital zine I created and published on Issuu. The digital zine showcases the three most basic and common tools used for self defense by women that can be easily carried around in a bag or purse. The digital zine includes three spreads, each spread focuses on a basic self defense tool with a caption of advise of how to use the tool and a smaller “p.s” under the caption with a note of my own experience with the tool. The prominent color of the digital zine is pink, reflecting how most self defense tools marketed to women are pink, and a bright shade of red is also used to evoke a sense of danger and to be reminiscent of the warning labels that can be found on the packaging on self defense tools.
