Thoughts? Social Media Campaign

Gavino, Gwendolyn. Thoughts? Social Media Campaign, 2024

Overview:

Thoughts? is a social media campaign I designed for a class project with the prompt of identifying a local issue and creating a solution. I decided to create a social media campaign tailored to New Mexico State University students, specifically freshmen, to help the students who may not know anyone at the school and want to create friendships but don’t know where to start. With social media playing a big role in the lives of college students, giving the ability to easily connect to them, creating Thoughts? as social media campaign is the best way to have it quickly spread on campus and allow students to easily access it and get involved. The posts for Thoughts? will act as conversation starters that aren’t basic ice breakers, but instead specific topics that would attract people who share the interest to talk in the comments, hopefully allowing a connection to form over a common interest. Having the campaign be on social media also allows for students who may have social anxiety in in-person student networking settings to feel less pressured to talk or less isolated like they might in these other social settings. With it being on social media, this allows the students to get involved in conversations revolving around topics they are interested in at their own pace and allow them to not feel like they are standing out by not participating in other conversations like they might in in-person social settings. In addition to this campaign being promoted on social media, it would also be promoted with flyers in freshman dorms and in student centers.
